Monster Island, the Asylum's 2019 mockbuster, was released around the same time as Godzilla: King of the Monsters. It is about a mysterious, monstrous creature who lives on an island. The island itself serves to symbolize the monstrous creature.


Asylum has a low budget, simple film that concentrates on a small group of human beings. This allows the film's A-listers to be concentrated in one location so that all their Monster Island (2019) Asylum sequences can be shot at lunch. But let's not forget that this film is a kaiju film and that's how they go so maybe The Asylum won’t be as bad?
